A meeting on fine tuning advocacy strategy for enactment of a WASH policy in Borno state was held on Thursday in Maiduguri, the state capital, by members of the civil society organization (CSO) and a media network on water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH).
Approximately 20 members of the two groups best known as WASH CSOs Advocacy Group and WASH Media Network attended the quarterly meeting that took place at FOURCi, one of the CSOs, office .
During the engagement, the group reviewed its advocacy for the signing of the WASH Policy in Borno state. Participants planned other advocacies lives for WASH Policy Signing and WASH Budget Monitoring to the UNICEF WASH manager, MCRP Coordinator, and the Acting Commissioner of the Ministry of Water Resources.

During the meeting, participants were also trained on WASH reporting for an hour by the WASH Media Network Secretary, Abdulkareem Haruna. The training aimed to equip the group with the knowledge and skills necessary to effectively report on WASH issues and advocate for the signing of the WASH Bill.
The WASH Media Network has been calling on the Borno state government to support the signing of the WASH Bill, which they believe will help to improve access to safe water, sanitation, and hygiene for the people in the state.
The group believes that the signing of the WASH Bill will also help to reduce the spread of waterborne diseases and improve the overall health and well-being of the people in the state.
The meeting was a productive engagement, with participants sharing ideas and strategies for promoting the signing of the WASH Bill in Borno state. The CSO and the WASH Media Network plan to continue their advocacy for WASH policy signing and WASH budget monitoring through further engagements with key stakeholders in the state
The CSO and Media Network have also been promoting WASH activity under the Small Town WASH activities prigramme, as well as promoting Gender Equality and Social Inclusive (GESI).
