Borno State, Nigeria – Inuwa Bwala, the Transition Committee Chairman for Hawul Local Government area of Borno state, has announced that his tenure will soon come to an end. This marks the completion of a six-month period during which he oversaw the affairs of over three hundred thousand residents in one of the most sophisticated area councils in Borno State and possibly the country.
Bwala’s tenure, which coincided with the peak of political campaigns for the 2023 general elections, was described as an intriguing and challenging time but also fulfilling and gratifying. Despite the pressures, betrayals, and open antagonism he faced, he expressed satisfaction in his delivery of duties.
Amid the possibility of not returning after the Sallah break or having his tenure renewed, Bwala, leaving the office today, was bid farewell by the staff of the council.
They converged at the Local Government Headquarters in Azare to offer their prayers and good wishes. Bwala was deeply moved by their encomiums and twice had to be pulled back into the office to hear their appreciation of his stewardship.
Bwala, aware of the relief his departure might bring to some, expressed his consciousness of his six-month regency’s expiration. For moments of friction that may have arisen due to his temperament, he sought forgiveness and reassured his love for everyone. Bwala emphasized that he “holds no grudges and hopes to meet everyone again”.
Whether or not he returns for a renewed tenure, Bwala thanked everyone for their love and support during his time in office. He urged them “to extend the same support” to his successor, “with the collective goal of making Hawul the envy of others”.
Bwala made a swift exit to avoid further emotional expressions and is currently awaiting the formal announcement of his tenure’s dissolution. As he bows out, Bwala wished all his Muslim brothers a happy Eid Mauloud.
Interestingly, The Humanitarian Times is packaging an exclusive interview detailing the eventful achievements of Inuwa Bwala’s six months stewardship…watch out for it!
