In a morale-boosting move, Borno State Governor, Babagana Umara Zulum, has delivered on his promise of a N10 million relief package for soldiers injured on the battlefield.

The pledge, made two months ago at a Sallah event, was fulfilled on Saturday, August 19, 2023, when the funds were handed over to Major General Peter Malla, GOC 7 Division of the Nigerian Army.

The Governor’s gift was delivered by Borno State Commissioner of Information and Internal Security, Professor Usman A Tar, and Permanent Secretary, Government House, Barrister Mustapha Ali Busuguma. “This morning he dispatched us to come and deliver the gift,” Prof. Tar said, referring to Governor Zulum’s commitment to the welfare of the troops.

Governor Zulum also reiterated his ongoing support for the military, pledging to complement the Federal Government’s efforts in providing logistics and improving troops’ welfare. He lauded the military for their role in maintaining peace in Borno and protecting Nigeria’s territorial integrity.

Major General Malla, receiving the donation, expressed gratitude to Governor Zulum for his unwavering support. He assured that the military would continue to strive for peace in Borno, focusing on eliminating any remaining insurgents.

The Governor’s generous gift has undoubtedly provided a significant morale boost for the wounded soldiers and their comrades.
