ABUJA, Nigeria – Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Kashim Shettima, GCON, marked his 57th birthday today, receiving high praise for his unique style of mentorship from his mentees and colleagues.

In a heartfelt tribute, Executive Governor of Borno State, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum, CON, mni, FNSE, lauded Shettima’s approach to mentorship, which he described as a rare opportunity for mentees to independently create their own identities of leadership.

Drawing inspiration from a quote attributed to renowned filmmaker Steven Spielberg, Zulum said, “The delicate balance of mentoring someone is not creating them in your own image, but giving them the opportunity to create themselves.”

He added that Shettima’s mentorship style embodies this philosophy, allowing his mentees to benefit their communities in Borno State and beyond.

Zulum further described Shettima as a “great and humble mentor,” the likes of which are difficult to find. He expressed his hopes for the Vice President’s continued health, strength, faith, wisdom, inner peace, and prosperity.
