In a historic turn of events, Hon. Bello Ayuba, the former state secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Borno, has been elected as the new state chairman of the party.
This significant development took place at a special congress of the party, following the elevation of his predecessor, Ali Bukar Dalori, to the position of the APC deputy national chairman, North.
The special state congress, graced by Governor Babagana Zulum, was officiated by the Deputy National Chairman. In his remarks, Governor Zulum stated that Ayuba’s election was based on considerations of fairness to all parts of the state in terms of political office appointments.
Ayuba’s ascension to the chairmanship marks the first time, after a very long time, a politician from southern Borno has become state chairman of a ruling party in the state.
The congress also saw the election of Barrister Loskuri, the General Manager of Monday, as the new state secretary.
In his acceptance speech, Ayuba expressed his gratitude and sense of responsibility,
“Today marks a significant milestone in my political career as I stand before you as the newly appointed Chairman of our great party, the All Progressives Congress (APC) Borno State. I am highly delighted and honoured by the trust and confidence you have reposed in me, and I accept this investiture with utmost gratitude and a sense of great responsibility.”
He paid tribute to Governor Zulum for his leadership and for providing the impetus for his appointment. He also acknowledged the achievements of the government in various sectors, which he said have made the work of the party easier as people’s desires are met in terms of fulfilment of campaign promises.
Ayuba pledged his loyalty to constituted authority, discipline, and mobilization of the people towards maintaining the total control by the APC in Borno. He also warned against anti-party activities, stating,
“You cannot be a member of the APC and conspire to undermine the party. Therefore, anti-party is not acceptable, and will not be tolerated.”
In closing, Ayuba called for collective leadership and assured stakeholders of an open-door policy. He said,
“I offer myself today as a servant and shall maintain fairness to all that will make the APC a darling for all.”
This historic event marks a new chapter in the political landscape of Borno state, and the entire nation watches with anticipation as Ayuba takes the helm of the APC in Borno.
