Dr Abubakar Othman, a renowned literary don of the University of Maiduguri is dead. He was killed in a ghastly car crash on Monday, Oct. 30 while traveling to Abuja, Nigeria’s capital.
The death of the literary giant of African literature left the literary community and beyond in mourning.
Dr. Othman, a distinguished literary scholar and senior lecturer at the University of Maiduguri, met with a tragic end at a time when his knowledge and expertise were most needed.
Dr. Othman specialized in African poetry and Creative Writing.
Born with an innate passion for literature, Dr. Abubakar Othman dedicated his life to the pursuit of knowledge and the promotion of African literary works.
Holding a PhD in Literary Psychoanalysis, he was widely regarded as an authority in his field. His published works, including “The Palm of Time” (2000, Malthouse), “The Passions of Cupid” (2013, Kraftbooks), and “Blood Streams in the Desert” (2013, Kraftbooks), have left a lasting impact on the literary landscape.
