Years after the military successfully reclaimed the communities from Boko Haram insurgents and the subsequent return of internally displaced persons (IDPs), the construction of 1,000 houses in Logumani and Gajibo has reached a peak level completion.
This was made know as Borno State Governor, Babagana Umara Zulum, recently conducted an inspection of the housing projects in the Ngala and Dikwa Local Government Areas.
These villages had been completely wiped out by the insurgents, leading to the displacement of residents since 2014.
During the visit to Logumani, where 500 houses were constructed, Governor Zulum expressed satisfaction with the progress made. He commended the efforts put into the project and acknowledged the resilience of the community.
The governor emphasized the significance of the completed construction in facilitating the return of residents to their homes. The houses were equipped with essential amenities, including a primary school, health center, police station, and a deep aquifer borehole for a sustainable water supply.

In Gajibo, another community in the Dikwa Local Government Area, the construction of an additional 500 houses has been finalized. Governor Zulum praised the timely completion of the project, which will allow the remaining IDPs to return to their homes. The reconstructed village is expected to provide the necessary infrastructure and support for the community’s restoration and development.
Governor Zulum’s visit also included a meeting with the Shehu of Dikwa to pay homage and discuss the ongoing efforts to ensure food security through irrigation farming. The governor emphasized the importance of agriculture in providing sustainable livelihoods for the affected communities.
With the completion of these housing projects, years after the liberation of the communities and the subsequent return of IDPs, Borno State takes a significant step forward in rebuilding and revitalizing the once-devastated villages.
The reconstruction efforts aim to restore normalcy and improve the lives of the residents who have endured immense hardship due to the insurgency.
