Maiduguri, the capital of Borno state, experienced yet another devastating fire incident that commenced during the early hours of Sunday.

The inferno occurred at Gamboru market, the city’s second-largest marketplace, resulting in the destruction of valuable properties worth millions of naira.

Traders, awakened by the distressing news, found themselves shedding tears of despair as they helplessly witnessed their investments succumb to the relentless flames.

According to sources familiar with the market, the conflagration exclusively targeted the section dedicated to the sale and milling of grains.

Abba Kaka, a trader fortunate enough to have his shop spared, lamented to reporters that the entire grain milling unit of Gamboru market has been reduced to ashes, sparing nothing in its path.

“It was really sad but the fire occurred and was limited to the grinding mills parts of the market,” he said

Fire outbreak at the Gamboru market has become almost an unfortunate yearly occurrence for some time now. The latest marks the second time this after the incident of March 18 when the market went up in conflagration on an Election Day
