Nigerian military personnel from the 27 Task Force Brigade, a part of Sector 2 “Operation Hadin Kai” (OPHK), successfully thwarted an assault by terrorists from the Islamic State West African Province (ISWAP) in the vicinity of Buni Yadi in the Gujba Local Government Area of Yobe State.
The attack occurred on November 13, 2023, around 03:00 hours, when an undisclosed number of ISWAP militants, armed with three gun trucks and four motorcycles, launched a probing attack from Kaushuruwa on a Charlie Company location of the 120 Task Force Battalion situated behind Buni Yadi.
This assault was in response to the recent neutralization of five terrorists in Malumti, near Buni Gari, and the recovery of several pieces of equipment, including a Conqueror Armored Personnel Carrier (APC).
Counter-insurgency expert and Lake Chad security analyst, Zagazola Makama, received information from intelligence sources indicating that the troops successfully repulsed the attack after an intense firefight, forcing the terrorists to retreat into the wilderness.
No casualties were reported among the troops at the location. However, it is believed that the terrorists withdrew with several wounded, as indicated by traces of blood found throughout their withdrawal route.
According to reports, the overall security situation in Buni Gari and its surroundings remains stable and under control.
