Yobe State, Nigeria – Governor Maimala Buni’s administration is on the brink of unveiling a significant infrastructural achievement: the Damagum-Gubana 12-km road, a new rural road network designed to stimulate the economy and make life easier for dwellers in the state’s agrarian communities. The road is part of the mega road network projects that the government embarked upon across the state.
Stretching across the untouched Saharan landscapes of Yobe, the Damagum-Gubana road will serve as a lifeline to several farming communities in the region, including Janga, Niggi, Dira, Jugulum, Gamdare, Ngoddo, Sabara, Neju, and Gubana.
These communities, known for their significant contributions to the state’s food supply chain, will directly benefit from this development.

An eagle-eye drone shot of the road winding through the virgin terrain paints a vivid picture of the deliberate infrastructural development aimed at enhancing the quality of life of rural dwellers and beautifying the landscape, which is abundant with untapped natural resources.
The completion of this road will alleviate long-standing transportation challenges faced by thousands of farmers in the region, easing the delivery of their produce to markets. Moreover, it will facilitate access to essential services like healthcare and other social amenities for residents.
Speaking on the project, Abdullahi Bego, Yobe State Commissioner of Information, revealed that the Damagum – Gubana road is just one part of a broader plan. It forms a part of the 197.5km of road projects being undertaken by the Buni Administration across Yobe State, a move aligned with the administration’s rural and economic development goals.

Bego further added that as most of the road projects are nearing their completion stages, the transformative impact of Governor Buni’s infrastructural revolution will become increasingly evident in the coming weeks, months, and years.
It is hoped that with the unveiling of these road projects, the Buni Administration is poised to significantly enhance the infrastructure landscape of Yobe State, charting a course for improved living standards, economic opportunities, and sustainable development in the region.
“This move is a testament to His Excellency Mai Mala Bunn’s commitment to bridging the urban-rural divide and transforming the lives of the good people of Yobe state,” Bego said.
