ABUJA, Nigeria – Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has affirmed the Renewed Hope Initiative’s dedication to advancing the welfare of women and children in the country. This statement was made during the inauguration of the Federal Ministry of Women Affairs’ revived National Model Workplace Nursery School in Abuja.

Senator Tinubu, represented by the Vice President’s wife, Hajiya Nana Shettima, recognized the resilience and commitment of working mothers as a source of inspiration.

“The Workplace Nursery School,” she stated, “will serve as a critical foundation for our nation’s progress and a brighter future, enhancing the bond between mothers and their children.”

According to a statement released by Kwapchi Bata Hamman, a Special Assistant to the President on Media & ICT, in the
Office of the Vice President, the school, established in 2001, was originally designed to provide early childhood care, education, and recreational activities.

However, it was shut down in June 2011 after the police headquarters bombing severely damaged the facility. After remaining closed for 13 years, the nursery school has been refurbished by the Ministry of Women Affairs under the leadership of Barrister Uju Kennedy-Ohanenye.

The newly inaugurated nursery school has been renamed in honor of the wife of a former head of state, christened as the Dr. Mrs. Victoria Gowon National Model Workplace Nursery.
