Nigerian President Bola Tinubu is in Maiduguri, Borno, today to attend the 2023 Chief of Army Staff Annual Conference. This marks his first visit to the state since his inauguration on May 29, 2023.
Tinubu, whose plane touched down at the Nigeria Air Force base in Maiduguri at 11:55 a.m., was accompanied by the defense minister, the national security adviser and other key cabinet members.
He was greeted by a delegation led by Chief of Army Staff Lt. Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja and Borno Gov. Babagana Zulum.

From the airport, Tinubu went to the palace of the Shehu of Borno, where he paid respects to His Eminence Abubakar Garbai Allamin Elkanemi.
At the palace, the Shehu of Borno praised Tinubu’s courage and his commitment to improving the lives of Nigerians.
Outside the palace, Tinubu unveiled a fleet of new city mass transit buses recently purchased by the Borno government before heading to the venue of the Chief of Army Staff Annual Conference.
Details of the conference’s proceedings have not been released yet.
