~ Vows to Enhance Skills and Push for Renewed Collaboration with UNDP and Government Agencies

The ceremony, which saw the re-election of the esteemed leader and his fellow officials, marked the beginning of another two-year journey aimed at strengthening the humanitarian efforts in Borno State.

Addressing a gathering of dedicated members and distinguished guests, including the Head of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), Bulama Abiso expressed heartfelt gratitude for the continued support and outlined his vision for the future.

On a momentous occasion over the weekend, Comrade Bulama Abiso, Executive Director of the Borno State Network of Civil Society, has been sworn in for a second term, reaffirming his commitment to peace and development in the region.

“This is a continuation of the journey we began two years ago, and we will maintain our pace,” he declared, emphasizing the network’s partnership with humanitarian partners to advance development and peace for the local people.

Comrade Abiso acknowledged the passion that drives many in the community to offer help but recognized the need for enhanced expertise and skills.

He called for dedication and hard work among members, pledging to pursue capacity development for both individuals and institutions within the Civil Society space.

The Executive Director’s speech highlighted the significant role of the UNDP in the network’s past achievements and expressed appreciation for the agency’s presence at the ceremony, a testament to the strong partnership between the two organizations.

Additionally, he charted a course for collaboration with government agencies, particularly the Borno State Agency for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, which he identified as a critical entry point for the network’s activities.

In a move that underscores the network’s commitment to organizational integrity, Comrade Abiso addressed the issue of over 100 organizations with expired certificates within the network, urging them to revalidate their credentials. Furthermore, he called upon all agencies to ease registration processes to allow for the inclusion of more organizations ready to contribute to the humanitarian mission.

Comrade Abiso also reaffirmed the network’s role as a voice for the voiceless, vowing to uphold the community’s need for advocacy and support.

However, he cautioned members on the importance of factual accuracy, underscoring the principle of ‘no harm’ and encouraging the verification of information before public dissemination.

As Comrade Bulama Abiso embarks on his new tenure, the Borno State Network of Civil Society stands poised to enter a new era of strategic humanitarian action, emphasizing skill development, effective partnerships, and responsible advocacy in its quest to serve the people of Borno State better.
