BudgetAwareness: Borno’s Annual Expenditure on Newspapers
By Abdul Kareem
The Borno state government has allocated N11,520,000 for the purchase of newspapers in 2024. This sum was approved by the Borno state House of Assembly following the executive arm’s initial proposal of N11,020,000 in the 2024 appropriation bill.
The assembly decided to increase the proposed amount by N500,000 before passing the bill into law. Consequently, the state government will now allocate N11.5 million for the procurement of newspapers for official use.
In 2023, the government spent N856,800.00 on newspapers, and in 2022, the expenditure was N7.7 million.
Known newspapers that are patronised by the Borno state government sell for N250 per copy.
