In an inspiring message to the faithful and the wider community, Most Rev Dr John Bogna Bakeni, the Auxiliary Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Maiduguri and Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Borno State Chapter, extended Easter greetings to all, emphasizing the peace and joy brought forth by the Resurrection of Jesus Christ.

Bishop Bakeni reflected on the profound significance of Easter, a time that celebrates Christ’s victory over death and the promise of eternal life for believers.

“Easter is the celebration of the Resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead. His victory and triumph over death and darkness,” he said.

He highlighted religious observance as the cornerstone of the Christian faith, reminding the faithful of the spiritual lessons of humility, selfless love, and the importance of emulating Christ’s virtues.

“Let us eschew the virtues of love, unity, prayer, peace, faith, Justice, kindness, generosity, charity, and goodness to one another,” he urged.

He cited the Gospel of Matthew, “You are the light of the world… Let your light so shine before people so that seeing your good works they will give glory to your Father who is in heaven.”
