Ado Ekiti, Nigeria – In an act consistent with her heartwarming compassion and commitment to the plight of the vulnerable, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, on Thursday, Oct. 31, launched a major food distribution initiative in Ekiti State, Southwest Nigeria.

The food distribution, a major component of the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI) being championed by the First Lady, is designed to uplift those in need, reflects the administration’s dedication to improving the lives of the most marginalized in society.

At the Government House in Ado Ekiti, the First Lady emphasized the program’s alignment with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s vision, stating,

“We are working towards improving the lives of the vulnerable. This initiative is a testament to our commitment to meeting the needs of our people,” she said.

Supported by a generous industrialist, the food distribution program is part of a monthly intervention strategy that has already made significant impacts across several states.

Representing the First Lady, Hajiya Nana Shettima, wife of the Vice President, Senator Kashim Shettima, urged beneficiaries to utilize the food items responsibly, emphasizing,

“I implore you not to divert these items to the market but to use them in your households, where they are most needed.”

Dr. Olayemi Oyebanji, the wife of the Ekiti State Governor, expressed profound gratitude for the support from Senator Tinubu, highlighting the timely nature of the intervention.

“This food distribution will go a long way in helping our vulnerable communities,” she said. “It not only addresses immediate needs but also reinforces our commitment to empowering our farmers, women, and youth.”

The event was highlighted with a symbolic presentation of food items and a vibrant display of traditional dance, celebrating the spirit of community and resilience.

As the Renewed Hope Initiative continues to roll out its programs, the message is clear: kindness and support from leaders can transform lives, one meal at a time.
