KANKARA, Katsina State —Criminal bandits demonstrated their cowardice on Tuesday by targeting the defenseless Matsiga Ta Kauye village in Kankara Local Government Area of Katsina state, northeast Nigeria.

According to a report confirmed by Zagazola the attackers, surfaced in large number, stormed the village around 2:45 p.m. and fatally shot a 25-year-old resident, Zailani Idris, before fleeing into the bush.

This latest attack highlights the bandits’ increasing reliance on targeting soft targets, such as vulnerable villages, where they face minimal resistance. Their actions are a stark contrast to engaging security forces in open combat, revealing their true nature as opportunistic criminals who prey on the weak.

Despite the swift response of a joint security team comprising police operatives, Community Watch members, and local vigilantes, the bandits managed to escape. The victim’s body was evacuated to the General Hospital in Kankara and subsequently handed over to his family for burial.

Security operatives are in hot pursuit of the attackers and have vowed to bring them to justice. This cowardly act will not go unpunished, and every effort will be made to ensure that those responsible are held accountable for their heinous crime.
