Speaking at the inauguration and general meeting of the Borno State Chapter of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) on Saturday, April 26, Tanimu Ibrahim Gambo, the Secretary of the NIPR Bauchi State Chapter, emphasized the importance of identifying individual “unique selling points” (USPs) and leveraging the online space for professional growth and impact.

Addressing the newly formed chapter, Gambo asserted that every individual possesses an inherent strength or USP, whether consciously acknowledged or not. He encouraged attendees to step outside their comfort zones and engage with others to discover these unique talents.

Drawing from his personal experience, Gambo shared how his initial self-perception as primarily a writer expanded after his induction into the NIPR in 2015, as he discovered additional skills through active participation and taking on responsibilities.

He stressed that once these USPs are identified, individuals should freely offer their expertise to colleagues and their work environment, often without expecting immediate compensation, as a means of building recognition and reputation.

A key focus of Gambo’s address was the critical role of establishing an online presence in today’s interconnected world. He stated that “all serious individuals and businesses recognize the importance of being online because that’s where the market and the world are heading.”

He urged professionals to capitalize on their unique skills by venturing online, highlighting the numerous platforms available, particularly to younger generations, that offer opportunities for monetization. Gambo even shared his personal experience of earning in US dollars through online activities and receiving translation job offers.

Ultimately, Gambo’s message conveyed the idea that everyone possesses a unique quality that can positively influence their lives, families, colleagues, and broader networks. He encouraged the new Borno State NIPR chapter to embrace these principles for individual and collective advancement.

Following a period of inactivity spanning decades, the Borno State Chapter of the NIPR is being re-established. The new chairman, Umar Mohammed, urged the newly inducted members to fully engage in the chapter’s activities within the state.
