ABUJA, Nigeria – The European Union has officially launched a new digital platform aimed at galvanizing Nigeria’s agricultural sector, a move that signals intensified support for the West African nation’s efforts to transform its economy through farming.

The EU-Nigeria Agribusiness Platform (EUNAP), unveiled Friday in Abuja, is designed to connect key players across the agricultural value chain, from farmers and processors to financiers and policymakers, both within Nigeria and the EU.

Massimo De Luca, Head of Cooperation at the EU Delegation to Nigeria and ECOWAS, emphasized that EUNAP is a cornerstone of the EU’s broader strategy to position agriculture as a central engine for inclusive growth, investment, and food security in Nigeria.

“The launch of this platform is not merely about technology or tools,” De Luca stated at the launch event.

“It is about building bridges and making Nigerian agribusiness globally competitive, sustainable, and inclusive. The EU remains a strong partner on this journey.”

Connecting Stakeholders and Driving Innovation

Funded by the EU and implemented by Agribusiness Register (ABR), EUNAP is envisioned as a multi-stakeholder digital hub. De Luca explained that the platform will facilitate innovation, trade, and finance across critical agricultural value chains.

Roland Oroh, CEO of Agribusiness Register Limited, hailed the initiative as a “game-changer” for Nigeria’s agribusiness landscape. “We are not only connecting actors across the agricultural landscape; we are creating a system that enables real-time collaboration, drives investment, and addresses real challenges,” Oroh said. “This is the kind of innovation agribusiness in Nigeria urgently requires.”

Unlocking Opportunities and Mobilizing Resources
Oroh highlighted that EUNAP’s unveiling underscores a firm commitment to coordinated action and shared value. He stressed that with robust backing from both Nigerian and EU stakeholders, the platform is poised to unlock new opportunities, broaden market access, and mobilize resources vital for Nigeria’s agricultural transformation.

EUNAP serves as a strategic digital and strategic hub for promoting investment, innovation, and policy dialogue across Nigeria’s agricultural value chains. The initiative aligns seamlessly with the EU’s dedication to fostering inclusive and sustainable agribusiness growth within Nigeria.
