KANO, Nigeria — Kano State Governor Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf on Tuesday launched the reconstruction of Zungeru Road in the Sabon-Gari area of Fagge Local Government, a move he described as integral to strengthening the state’s urban renewal efforts.


The 3.6-kilometer road project, initially approved during the second term of former Governor Senator Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso, had been abandoned by the previous administration, according to a statement released by the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Mustapha Muhammad.


Speaking at the flag-off ceremony, Governor Yusuf emphasized that the reconstruction of Zungeru Road underscores his administration’s commitment to developing essential infrastructure to improve the lives of Kano citizens.

“Kano, as an emerging mega-city, deserves high-quality roads,” Yusuf stated, reiterating his government’s dedication to enhancing public welfare through critical developmental projects.


The governor urged the contractor responsible for the Zungeru Road project to ensure timely completion and strict adherence to all stipulated regulations and guidelines. He also assured contractors across the state of prompt payment for completed projects.


Governor Yusuf expressed appreciation for the support and cooperation extended by the Sabon-Gari community to his administration, urging them to maintain their engagement for the accelerated socioeconomic development of Kano.
