BUNI YADI, Yobe State – In Yobe State, the core mission of local government – acting as the closest level of authority to the people – is being revitalized through the leadership of Hon. Dala Mala, the Executive Chairman of Gujba Local Government Area.

Hon. Mala is drawing widespread recognition for a governance model that prioritizes people-oriented infrastructure, public safety, and healthcare.

A centerpiece of this administrative transformation is the reconstruction of the Buni Yadi Government Lodge. Formerly a dilapidated structure, the facility has been rebuilt into a state-of-the-art lodge equipped with modern amenities.

Newly reconnected Gujba Government Lodge

Speaking during a visit by a high-powered media and  government delegation led by Commissioner for Home Affairs, Information and Culture, Hon. Abdullahi Bego, and Commissioner for Housing and Urban Development, Hon. Ahmed Buba, the chairman noted that the lodge is now ready for commissioning.

The project, he emphasized, serves as a dignified accommodation for visiting public officials  on government functions, signaling an end to the existing gap in decent lodging for important officials and personalities.

Recognizing that sustainable development is impossible without stability, Hon. Mala has significantly enhanced the local security architecture. His administration has provided critical logistical support to both the Nigeria Police Force and local vigilante groups. By equipping these frontline responders, the council has enhanced its capacity to preempt crime and protect rural communities in the post-insurgency landscape.

The Chairman’s agenda extends deeply into public health, particularly through the support for Primary Healthcare (PHC) initiatives. The Council’s ability to provide an enabling environment for the State government’s recent upgrade of the local health facility to a Specialists Hospital has already yielded life-saving results.

Thanking the State Governor, Hon Mai Mala Buni for the project, the  chairman noted that the upgraded specialist hospital in Buni Yadi has started yielding a positive impact.

“The rate of maternal mortality and morbidity has reduced to the barest minimum, and our people now have access to affordable, quality healthcare compared to the past,” he said.

Synergy with State Leadership
Hon. Mala attributed the modest successes achieved by his council in Guja to the support of Governor Mai Mala Buni, praising the Governor for the “massive transformation” across the state. He specifically cited the construction of township roads, drainages, and the water reticulation system in Buni-Gari as projects that have directly improved the lives of his constituents.
Furthermore, the Chairman highlighted the ongoing construction of the township mini-stadium by Damuli Engineering Company Limited.

He noted that such post-insurgency projects provide vital opportunities for the youth to engage in productive sporting activities, further cementing the peace currently enjoyed in the region.
